A pretty nifty ratio Regina Oro 6sp BSC thread 12-21 freewheel with the desirable splined remover. This freewheel came to us as a 12-17, and we changed cogs to make it a 12-21. The cogs are 12,13,14,15,18,21. The jump is a bit large for the last two cogs, but this is how you can get a freewheel with straight block spacing combined with a couple of larger cogs for when you come to a slight hill. This is a wide-space freewheel looking for approximately a 126 to 127mm frame/hub spacing. Note that you can use a narrow chain (one intended for up to 8sp) on this freewheel with good results. But use of a wide space chain gives the real solid “ker-chunk” sound that vintage fans like. We figure its for folks who are on the flats but need to get up that highway overpass or other modest incline (in the old days us young wiper snappers could climb in a 21 – these days not so much! The largest two cogs are oro but are darker in color. Also, the cogs that came off the freewheel are not included. If you buy this, we’re assuming you are NOT going to be changing cogs on it. The Regina freewheels with threaded cogs can be difficult to mess with – cogs sometimes go on and off stiffly and you really need the special Regina tools as otherwise the third from largest cog loves to get stuck on. Note that Regina freewheels of this era that start with a 12 tooth cog have a special body called “scalare”. Like all old freewheels, even with all never-ridden parts, you really should drip some fresh oil into the body. This item is perfect for that old Cinelli, Masi, Hetchines, Reynolds 531 or Columbus SL bicycle that you have. This item will be great for that vintage lightweight bicycle that you may be displaying at Classic Bicycles Auburn in June 2024 in Auburn Indiana at the famous Auburn Cord Duesenberg Museum The fine print: It is the responsibility of the buyer to determine if an item purchased from us is safe for use.
