eBay From Janet Reger London, Style: 589 Camisole and style 589 French Knickers in Champagne coloured silk. The silk has a satin sheen, it is as heavy and luscious as the sheer lace trim is fine and intricate. In order to balance the pattern of the flowers and leaves in the lace, some of the lace is applique’d over other sections. The silk has the shapes of the lace cut out and the lace is applique’d over the silk with very fine stitching. Around the top of the lace trim there are waves finishing with a fine looped eyelash finish. The lace trim is mostly in ecru colour but is over dyed with sections of blue, peach, ivory and gold – colours often combined in her collections. To me the French Knickers are more like shorts as they are hipster rather than up to the waist so, I have described these as shorts. These shorts or French Knickers have open slits at each hip side with the wonderful fine lace trim applique’d over and into the silk, with the edges in large waves with its tiny looped eyelash finish. The camisole has fine spaghetti straps formed from the champagne coloured silk, these are not adjustable but loops may be taken in at the back and secured inside with a few stitches, so these are long to allow for a tall person as it is easier to shorten but impossible to lengthen them. The floral lace trim is around the top of the front in large waves, with a few flowers and leaves falling down the centre front. There are side seams to the silk camisole. The back panel has three sections of separate lace coming down from the top and the top edge is straight with small waves of ecru coloured lace edging the top. The bottom of the camisole has the silk turned up with a narrow turn up and sewn in place with a single row of ecru stitching. The shorts or French Knickers have an elasticated waistband with the silk folded over the top and secured with fine ecru zig-zag stitching all the way around. A fine champagne coloured satin ribbon bow is sewn to the centre top of the front, with long tails. There is one main panel of the silk at the front down to the front gusset seam. The back has two panels of the silk with a central vertical seam over the gusset to the front gusset seam. The gusset is lined with champagne coloured cotton. As mentioned in the first paragraph, the side seams are open up to the top, edged with the over dyed floral lace with large waves on the outside and interesting shapes cut and applique’d into the silk on the inside. The bottom edges of the silk and around the gusset have the same narrow turn up as with the bottom of the camisole, sewn in place with a single row of ecru stitching. The fabric of the Champagne camisole and French Knickers is 100% Silk, excluding the trims. Janet Reger states that this set should be hand washed in cool water; cool iron if necessary, no bleach or tumble drying. Keep away from fire. New and unused.
